Our highly successful Pedal Prix program has been in operation for 15 years. This program involves students working as a team to compete in human powered vehicles (bikes). Our program has grown and now has four bikes in operation.
Students in Yrs 6 and 7 are eligible to partake in this program and it requires a commitment to fortnightly training, two six hour races at Victoria Park and the highlight of a 24 hour race at Murray Bridge. Through our program we see students overcoming fears, gaining in fitness and achieving a sense of camaraderie as they work with their team mates. They love riding though the night at the 24 hour race. All of our Habits of Mind are utilised (and tested!) through this program. Recently, our senior students (with Rachel’s support) won an international Habits of Mind video competition for their movie on the event.
Parents are encouraged to be involved in Pedal Prix through fund-raising and working in the shed on a Thursday evening getting the bikes ready for racing.
Our students love this program!
